My name’s Dan and I share notes from sermons and Bible studies that cover most books of the Bible. I also blog about other aspects of church life or related topics I find interesting.
Whether you’re writing a talk or Bible study, or just wanting to increase your understanding of the Bible, I hope you find the site helpful. Do get in touch if you have any comments, questions or suggestions. I really would love to hear from you!
When the Lord reveals his judgement against sin, will you cry to him for mercy or refuse to listen? This whole book is a warning. Vision 1 – locusts (v1-3) As the Lord speaks first, he says he’s preparing locusts. It’s not just a vision of an accident. The Lord intends it. When they come, …
The Israelites are looking forward to the Lord’s coming (5:18). They’re looking forward to the day when God’s people will have a wonderful future. It’s a good thing to long for. This will be a day of judgment against them (5:18-20). There is no escape. Appearances can be deceiving. For the Israelites in Amos’ time …
Amos seems to be stirring our hearts to ask if we’re actually at peace with God. We are in danger if we fool ourselves, but God says to Amos “Come with me if you want to live.” (Terminator reference). This passage was often quoted in the American civil rights movement in the 50s. Amos announces …
My name’s Dan and I’m a Christian based in the UK, near Liverpool. Over the last decade or so, I’ve been involved with a couple of evangelical churches. I started this blog as a way of sharing notes I’ve taken during sermons or talks. I’ve also posted notes from Bible studies that I’ve led at midweek small groups.
The notes aren’t comprehensive by any means, but are intended as a brief guide to the passage. For more in-depth commentaries, check out Bible Hub or David Guzik’s excellent Enduring Word commentary (which I use extensively when preparing Bible studies).
I also write about other related topics that I find interesting. I like various Christian artists including Rend Collective and Matt Redman, as well as music produced by Bethel and Hillsong. I also love U2 and enjoy playing the piano.
I’m involved with children’s work at my church and help run a Venture camp in the summer.
I work as a software engineer and love technology. If you like, you can follow me on Twitter @thedanthomas or feel free to fill in the contact form. I’d love to hear from you!
